Work
Field Service Scheduling And Mobile App
A company that manages bird control work with handler/dog pairs, structural and laser-based bird deterrent systems, and egg depredation needed to move scheduling, field activity, and handler payroll out of a large spreadsheet.
The Process Problem
The company runs a specialized bird control operation. Their work includes handler/dog pairs that chase geese off properties, structural and laser-based bird deterrent systems, and egg depredation for birds causing problems.
They were coordinating that operation from a large Excel spreadsheet. It held too much of the business process, and the normal spreadsheet problems had become operational problems: locking, access trouble, and poor usability for people working in the field.
The business needed scheduling and field activity to move through software that understood how this unusual field operation actually happened, including the reality of unreliable mobile connectivity.
What We Built
Plaidypus moved the operation onto a three-part platform. Zoho One became the core business layer, a custom portal managed handler scheduling and service coordination, and a mobile app gave field users a more reliable way to work away from the office.
The mobile app was built to be more tolerant of offline situations, so field activity could continue even when connectivity was not perfect.
What Grew Over Time
Once the core platform was in place, Plaidypus expanded the system with Zoho Analytics to compile payroll information for handlers.
That turned payroll from a slower manual reporting process into a more structured flow, helping the business run handler payroll much faster.
Why It Mattered
The project replaced a fragile spreadsheet with a business operating platform tailored to a very specific service model. Handler scheduling, bird control work, mobile updates, and payroll reporting could each live in the right part of the system instead of being forced through one overloaded file.
